"Okaeri: the Spy of the Rising Sun" obtains Ibermedia Scholarship to participate in the "LabGuion"

The project was selected to participate in the second group of the International Screenwriting Lab "LabGuion" organized by the Cinefilia Corporation in Colombia with the financial support of an Ibermedia Program scholarship.

In 2024, Peruvian screenwriter and director Camila Murayama was selected to participate in the prestigious 12th edition of LabGuion, the International Screenwriting Lab organized by the Colombian organization Cinefilia and the Ibermedia Program. Chosen from over 220 submissions from across Ibero-America, her feature project Okaeri, the Spy from the Rising Sun was one of the 54 selected and received an Ibermedia Fellowship.

This edition marked a significant milestone for the Lab, with 70% of the selected participants being women—highlighting the growing presence and impact of women filmmakers in the region.

Throughout the Lab, Camila received personalized guidance from renowned mentors Michel Marx (The Class), Frank Baiz (La noche de las dos lunas), and Yolanda Barrasa (Método Barrasa), who supported her in deepening the narrative and emotional layers of Okaeri. The space provided a unique opportunity to strengthen the project's cinematic voice and its resonance as a historical and human story.

Participation in LabGuion 2024 is a key step in the international development of Okaeri, reaffirming the project's potential to connect with global audiences, institutions, and festivals.
